
General Product Safety Act in Chapter III specifies obligations of producers and distributors, who are required – in cases of finding a potentially unsafe product, which does not correspond to general safety requirement - to notify inspection office immediately.
Should producers and distributors estimate a serious risk, the notification must consist of at least the following information:
- data, which enable identification of a product or the series this product belongs to;
- a complete description of the risk a certain product presents;
- all available information, necessary for tracing the product on the market;
- a description of actions carried out in order to prevent risk to consumers.
Notifications must be sent to the following address: Trzni inspektorat RS, Parmova 33, SI-1000, Ljubljana, Slovenia or to e-address obvestila.tirs(at)gov.si.

Directorate of EU Commission for Health and Consumer Protection has published a helpful manual »Guidelines for Notifications of Dangerous Consumer Products to the Competent Authorities of the Member States by Producers and Distributors«, according to Article 5 (3) of Directive 2001/95/EC.
