Introduction

Market Inspectorate of Republic of Slovenia is an inspection office, operating within Ministry of the Economy. We are an independent office and work on basis of the Constitution and legislation, we are responsible for.

Market inspectors carry out surveillance of execution of several legislative acts, which specify market relations. We are responsible for areas such as consumer protection, unfair competition, trade and craft, tourism and catering, protection of copyrights and some others.

Slovenia became a member of European Union in 2004. Thus new regulations and legislative acts have been adopted and new responsibilities on the area of free movement of goods have been delegated to Market Inspectorate of Republic of Slovenia. Market Inspectorate has become one of the main authorities for technical regulations, i. e. New Approach Directives for the area of market surveillance.

Market Inspectorate has its offices in 28 locations all over Republic of Slovenia. We are 163 of staff, of these 139 inspectors. All market inspectors can work on the area throughout Slovenia, but inspectors working locally, within a certain branch know local circumstances best so we would like to ask you to contact local branches for any information or complaint you may have following contact details on the following page. We would also like to invite you to request assistance with complaints or ask a question about national legislation.
